We played The New Afternoon Show at WNYU today. Thanks to Jenn Pelly for having us on.
As a band that's kind of scattered throughout Long Island and Brooklyn, we've made a lot of use of email to stay in touch and make decisions. As a result, we've built up quite a sizable archive of exactly what we were thinking and talking about at a point in time. In light of this, we're publishing a continuing series of snippets of our email conversations.
To kick things off, we have us naming both our band and EP. A bit of context is probably necessary to understand the following exchange. We were calling ourselves Dreaming Kids at one point, but decided we didn't really like the name. Secondly, Andrea and Eric used to play together as Vampires. Hope you enjoy the emails below.

So we have a band name... next hurdle, the name of the EP? I liked Gabe's suggestion of "Blue Teeth."

What is the band name? Is it Twin Sister? As far as the E.P goes I like all that hippie shit, Mood Ring, Psychic Friend but that's old news. Ash said something like "gost"? I think it means friend? Is that right Dev? Anyway I thought that sounded cool. Let's get this over with!

So, twinsister.com is taken, by a children's educational music site. dreamingkids.com was taken by a children's apparel site. Man, we love kids. Anyway, I was thinking twinsistermusic.com would be good for our website? It's not smart or funny, but pretty easy to tell people.... Thoughts? If you guys are happy with that, I'll buy the domain name.

Mike is demanding I pitch the following names:
Crystal Mirth, Coconut Radio, & Toucan Telephone. I am not liable in any way for how terrible those suggestions are.

She's okay with it, but likes Novi better. I like both of them equal.

Oh man I miss you Mike. All great band names. The first is good I like Crystal as a word. The last too are very Gilligan's Island. Here are my new suggestions- Italian Suit, Beach Party, Slumber Party, Dad's Hands, Godoug & LizardBand@spit.gov.

I made a Gmail and Myspace:
Gmail - twinsistermusic@gmail.com, password is [redacted]
Myspace- same email and password
Which songs should we post? Last Gabe and I spoke we were thinking Ginger and House.
Also, the google related links for twin sister are fantastic:
Twins Clothes, My Sister, Dad Twins, Got Twins
!

I bought twinsistermusic.com. The gmail is kind of unecessary as we'll have eric@twinsistermusic.com or band@twinsistermusic.com or whatever the fuck. I think we should post up all 4 songs, I don't see a reason to hold any back.
As for the practice space, that location is amazing for me, not so great for everybody else.

So seriously ep name? I really like the idea of calling it "Dreaming Kids." It's a nice way to say goodbye.

1. cool news about the website purchase- its good you just bought domain, that made our band name decision for us
2. the practice space is priced well- as for location, it makes no difference to me, ill be trekking to BK regardless. as long as its off the L or the 4...
4. about the MySpace songs, my and erics reasoning for just putting up 2 was just to avoid overload for first-time listeners, and also to give people some initiative to go toward the web page for download. but on second thought, 4 is cool too- theres no element of trying to rope people into something. So im down with 4 or 2.
5. as for the EP name, i like dreaming kids cause it kinda wipes the slate clean with that name, and also that is what we were playing under when we made it, but i would be fine with basically anything- if dre or eric or bryguin has an idea, lets go with that
- or we could be REALLY confusing and call it:
Twin Sister- Vampires with Dreaming Kids
ahHH!! takin' out the trash. kinda cool though...
cööl,

I like Vampires with Dreaming Kids
Our most urgent ringtone yet! Part of the Ringtones 4 Teens series.
If you've noticed, we're playing a lot of show in the next few months. We're not used to dealing with this kind of volume, and managed to double book ourselves for April 9th and 10th. As a result, the Alphabet Lounge show on April 9th and the show at the Tortilla Factory on April 10th have been cancelled. Our bad! However, all of you looking forward to delicious tacos should not worry too much, because we're going to be rescheduling the Tortilla Factory show with our friends in Weed Hounds and Big Soda. I'll post the replacement shows in a bit.
We are very pleased to announce that we'll be embarking on our first tour in March with the excellent Holiday Shores. We're leaving New York on March 13th to play a show in Philly, driving to Austin for SXSW, making a stop in Mexico for MtyMx, and then winding our way back to New York via the wonderful dates below:
All dates are with Holiday Shores
A big thank you to the kind folks over at PopGun Booking, who have been working super hard in putting all of this together. In the meantime, we have a lot to do to prepare. In less than a month we have to: buy a van, finish up a fun as-of-now-secret thing we're gonna be doing with McGregor from Chocolate Bobka, hand make a few copies of our first EP, and learn some new songs. See you soon!
This song we are thinking of bringing on tour with us, among a few others we've been working on. Andrea is playing drums! She wouldn't let me post this unless I mentioned she hasn't played drums in over a year. She used to be our drummer before Bryan moved back.
Here is the mix of Nectarine before we put it through Gabe's tape player.
Just found a bunch of alternate mixes of songs on a CD in my Mom's car today. Will post another tomorrow.
I made the backing sounds this past summer, then Eric sang over it one night in December after making fruit baskets all day.
We're almost done with a new EP! It'll be our first "official" release, meaning it'll be reproduced physically (vinyl!!) and come out on Infinite Best Recordings. It's going to be called Color Your Life.
Here's the tracklist:
The Other Side of Your Face
Lady Daydream
Milk & Honey
All Around and Away We Go
Galaxy Plateau
Phenomenons
Ribbon Bow is something I did a couple of years ago, and then promptly lost. Thankfully Eric had a copy.
We've had a rash of thefts in the world of Twin Sister over the last couple of months. After our show in Philadelphia, somebody broke into my sister's car in Bushwick and stole half of our equipment. Luckily, none of it was irreplaceable, and they didn't grab Eric's father's beautiful Silvertone guitar.
Then, last night, somebody stole my digital recorder that I was using to record our set. So, as a eulogy of sorts, I'm posting the last recording we made with it. It's an idea that we wrote during practice on Sunday, and we're all pretty excited to get some vocals written for it. Initially, we weren't going to post this recording, since it's very much still a work in progress, but in light of recent events, I figured what the hell.

Here's a little mix called 'International Dust.' Listen close for tidbits of unreleased Twin Sister ambiance between songs.
It also features tracks by two of our favorite people, Joe Meek (pictured above) and John K.
Here is Bryan, Jonny, and Joe in Austin, Texas about two years ago. I'll post more another time.
New song we've been tossin' round. Needs some chiseling, some Dev, Gabe, and Andrea.
PS: Excuse the Garageband reverb, I forgot it was there until I checked to see if I suceeded posting on Dev's Spectacular New Website.
